If you read the last issue you’ll know we are living in one of the greatest ever eras in terms of surfboard design. It’s an age unlike any other where anything goes, designs are being tweaked daily and shapers have both the greatest divergence of influences, freedom of expression and at the same time access to the best shaping machines, materials and craftsmen in history. The result of the past few years is clearly marked in performance shortboard history, where the fireball and keel fish have left their mark. The same can be said of the retro market. It’s now all about the ride.
