Ujung Bocur Bungalows

One of the world’s most famous surf destinations, with the largest archipelagic state consisting over 17,000 volcanic islands, Indonesia is Asia’s surfing capital. Waves peeling across Lombok, Java and Sumatra to Bali’s Bukit Peninsula, the Mentawai islands and beyond. Indonesia fires under various swell and wind combinations making Indonesia an all-year-round surf destination for all levels.

Climate / When to go:
A little trickier to predict the weather nowadays since Climate change made friends with El Nino and La Nina, showing off a much less predictable forecast. Generally speaking, anytime is a good time to visit Indonesia.

The main swell season is April to August, however the ‘shoulder seasons’ might be best for catching consistent swell and empty waves (March – June & September – November). And December to February always have great waves right through the island chain from the popular east coast of Bali to Sumbawa right up to the Ments.

For Lombok the dry season is May-September and wet season October-April. Waves are consistent through out both seasons but dry season is considered the best time thanks to the offshore winds that pick up in the south and southwest.

Everyone will speak Indonesian but due to the number of islands you will find that there are a number of local and regional dialects.
