Two great places to visit in Portugal are the Algarve and Peniche, both have a relaxed atmosphere and the surf’s great. The Algarve is often an overlooked surf destination but has loads of great surf spots (mainly beach breaks) on its west and south facing beaches. Peniche, north of Lisbon and home to the Rip Curl Pro Portugal, is a peninsula with beaches either side of a fishing town.
To the north there are breaks that pick up lots of swell, there’s a great sheltered beach in the middle, and there’s the famous Supertubes to the south.

Baleal Surf camp
Baleal Surf Camp is the original Portuguese surf camp, which opened in 1993. Unique beach front location, surf centre with surf school, surf camp, surf rentals, beach bar and disco.
There’s cool hostel or apartments style accommodation all within walking distance to the beach. So no transportation needed. Excellent ratings in Trip Advisor. The place to be in Peniche, is Baleal Beach, so check it out!
