Kerry Baker will be stand up paddleboarding from Lundy Island, North Devon to Barry Island, South Wales raising funds for special education school in Penarth, Wales.
“During 2025 I will be stand up paddle boarding from Lundy Island which sits 19KM off the north coast of Devon where the Bristol Channel begins to Barry Island here in South Wales. This challenge will take three days and I will cover approximately 80 nautical miles. I am doing this to raise funds for outdoor equipment at Ysgol y Deri.
As a teacher at Ysgol y Deri and chair of Island SUP Club (a stand up paddle boarding club here on Barry Island) I understand the importance of spending time outside and the impact it has on our health and wellbeing.
Outdoor engagement is incredibly important at Ysgol y Deri and apparatus such as swings, spinners, slides, scooters and bikes really support this engagement and need. With funds raised we will be able to replenish this equipment and continue to develop it.” Kerry Baker, head coach at @islandsupwales
Kerry has the green light and is ready to go…
‘Bristol Channel Bound’ I am.
Wednesday 9th July I will begin my adventure leaving Lundy Island around 11AM.
It will take 3 days to paddle from Lundy Island which is 20KM off the coast of North Devon back home to Barry Island.
I am doing this to raise funds for Ysgol y Deri’s outdoor provision @yydpta_shiningtogether and to raise awareness of the importance and incredible benefits of getting outside.
I hope to arrive home Friday afternoon at Jackson’s Bay.
Anything you can donate will be greatly appreciated by myself and Ysgol Y Deri.
