Europe’s most advanced inland surf destination, Lost Shore Surf Resort, will host a major first for Scotland this June: the ‘Hi-Land Fling’, a two-day international surf competition and high-performance showcase – bringing 20 elite professional surfers from across the globe.


Held across 23rd and 24th June in Edinburgh, the event positions Scotland firmly on the map as a serious player in global surf culture, with a format designed to blend elite performance with public access, immersive experiences, and international visibility.

 

Confirmed surfers include:
Hunter Jones (USA) – Stunt double on Outerbanks (Netflix) and Ballers (HBO)
Gearoid McDaid (IRE) – 7x Irish National Champion, 2nd place European Champs 2023
Nicolas Paulet (FRA) – French Champion 2022, 2x European runner-up
Lauren Sandland (ENG) – 2x British Women’s & U18 National Champion
Georgie May Hicks (ENG) – 2023 English Junior National Champion
Craig McLauchlan (SCO) – 2025 Scottish Champion

 

Designed for progression, the competition will spotlight the pool’s most advanced settings, with surfers battling it out for Best Wave and Best Air titles. A separate competition for videographers looks to find the best highlight clips, celebrating the creative energy of the surf media scene.
Format Highlights:
Public surf sessions alongside pros (Monday & Tuesday)
Private athlete session with spectator access (Monday 5.30pm)
Surf film screening and athlete Q&A (Monday night)
Full competition with DJ sets, live commentary, and podium moment (Tuesday)
