28 years ago Mark Ward started the Surfballs in Tynemouth and this year he decided to run it as a beach party and BBQ raising £2,000 for the Mind Charity.
“It was one hell of a party with young mixing with old, real family do, where fathers and daughters were on the dance floor ( the beach in this case), a total sell out in four weeks”, says Mark
“Our Djs Mark Armstong and Simon Hetherington who make up our collaboration Surfball1991, came together to host the party of a life time at the Tynemouth Rowing Club on Haven beach here in Tynemouth, and we raised an incredible £2,107.27 for the charity MIND which is very close to us all.”
“We were absolutely stoked to receive raffle prizes from the Sunset Sons, Adventure Parc Snowdonia, Sam Fender, Tynemouth Surf co, HUSH art (look him up), the Prodigy, and several other businesses locally.”
The lads have two other events coming up this year.
Louis Thomas Hudson is hosting a comp 5th October2019 on the Longsands Tynemouth in memory of his father, Stephen Hudson who Co founded Tynemouth Surf Co and surf school along with Mark back in 1995.
