More Jaws?

So our old mate Lydia is back on the circuit. Won’t be long before the newspapers start screaming ‘SHARK! Run for the HILLS!’ when she’s a mere few thousand miles away from nibbling anyone’s toes off. Pointless scaremongering aside it is fascinating to see the actual range and distance covered… Because science. Check out her progress on the Ocearch site HERE.

This time last year she ventured ‘vaguely’ towards Britain and Ireland leading to a plethora of over the top stories in the newspapers. We’re more balanced here at Carve. We just made our own version of the tracking page instead. Because we’re real mature. Sadly unless you actually remember the poster for the film Jaws it goes down like a lead balloon as a visual gag. So. At least the 30+ crowd amongst you got it…

Roka Puta

The Atlantic is pretty much alive with swell and storms at the moment. Mostly up north, but some swell did sneak down south to Spain. Check out Ibon Amatriain, Skeet Derham, Axi Muniain and Oscar Garcia taking on Roka Putas first perfect swell of 2015.

It's Baltic…

So in pretty much any area in the world with a large enough expanse of water to host wave propagation you will find surfers…I kind of knew there were Polish surfers, but I have never seen it. Then this video turned up. It is shot in the Baltic at Władysławowo and Jastrzębia Góra where the water is about 4-5 celsius and air temperatures run between 0-5 degrees. Northerly winds bring the best swell, they come from he north which has a 45% of it’s surface area covered in ice ever year…Yeah… It’s cold. Local surfers travel between 80 500km to surf there Pretty hardcore I think you will agree.

Day in day out

Kikas is from Cascais, just outside Portugal’s capital of Lisbon. He is heading of the QS this year. This is him warming up…
