To some, the ocean is a fearsome and dangerous place. But to others, it’s a limitless world of fun, freedom and opportunity where life can be lived to the full.
A documentary presented by Patagonia and directed by Keith Malloy, ‘Fishpeople’ tells the stories of a unique cast of characters who have dedicated their lives to the sea. From surfers and spearfishers to a long-distance swimmer, a former coal miner and a group of at-risk kids on the streets of San Francisco, it’s a film about the transformative effects of time spent in the ocean—and leaving behind our limitations to find deeper meaning in the saltwater wilderness that lies just beyond the shore.
The Fish People tour kicks off at Newquay May 6 (Join us for the European premiere of Keith Malloy’s new film Fishpeople With Ambassador Kimi Werner. Film will screen @ 8:15 PM Doors @7.30 PM ) and continues through Ireland, Germany, France, Italy, Holland, Switzerland, Czech Rep.

Jonathan Gubbins has his spots in the world that he travels to yearly and checks off his list. Teahupoo in Tahiti is one of them, and the Peruvian has been known as a stand out there whenever he stops on by. Here’s his most recent trip to French Polynesia where he linked up with filmmaker Justis St John that resulted in a few minutes of magic.
“Over the last couple years, I’ve been focused on chasing swells that focus on some of the best barrels in the world. Tahiti, Africa and Indonesia are on top of that list and once I saw this storm, I had a feeling this might be the one. I’ve been putting a lot of effort in with my equipment and surfing lately, and jumping on a last second flight to catch this swell, I was pumped to make the most of it.” – Jonathan Gubbins
