During the course of a UK Pro Surf Tour year, a lot happens. Standout performances, closely fought battles, first-time winners, title races, incredible manoeuvres and final second heroics. So much happens so quickly and then we’re off and focused on the next stop and we don’t get much time to contemplate on everything that’s transpired.
So before this season begins, I thought it would be nice to look back at what happened last year and remember some of the best moments from 2018. It really was a year to remember, with some amazing improvements to the tour and its coverage and incredible performances from all age categories.
It was difficult to narrow down with so much to choose from but in the end, these are my top ten moments from 2018…

There are three words that should be a surfer’s mantra: Surfing is fun. If you’re not having fun then what the heck are you doing? In the spirit of all things fun  #GameOfKook is here. A welcome antidote to the sometimes ‘why so serious?’ side of surf culture. The concept is explained below. We’ve seen a bunch of the eps and they’re a right giggle.
We’re all familiar with a Game of SKATE, but a Game of KOOK? What’s that you ask?
Well as Mr Beyrick De Vries states – “basically like SKATE, but in the ocean.” 
A high vibes fun-filled session of fresh challenges. But nobody wants to be a KOOK right?
 
To keep the flow going the following are the ‘official’ rules of  Game of KOOK:
 
– Two surfers take each other on.
– A game of rock, paper, scissors determines who sets the first challenge.
– The next person sets the next trick.
– If you fail to do the challenge you get a letter.
– If you both fail then you both get a letter.
– If you both achieve the challenge then whoever does the weakest / lamest attempt gets the letter.
– Only 2 attempts per challenge.
– If it’s a tie break on the final ‘K’, the first person to complete the trick is the winner.
– First person to K.O.O.K is the loser
