The Carve Awards celebrate an unprecedented year, with four world titles and major domestic achievements. The Passenger 2 – Miguel Blanco
The Passenger 2 beautifully captures the journey of surfer Miguel Blanco, presenting surfing not just as a sport but as an art form that embodies the ultimate harmony between human creativity and the raw forces of nature. Through his profound belief in the power and majesty of the natural world.
From Hawaii to Madeira, Mavericks to Todos Santos, Blanco surfs some of the most iconic big waves around the globe. Each destination brings its own set of challenges and rewards, reminding us all of the vastness and unpredictability of the ocean.
"The Passenger 2" begins and concludes in Portugal, where Blanco reconnects with his roots. The familiar landscapes of his homeland serve as a source of strength and inspiration, fuelling his determination to tackle pressing global issues such as climate change, political upheaval, and environmental crises. This connection to his home environment is always a reminder of the importance of preserving our natural surroundings.

Keep Our Sea Chemical Free – THE DOCUMENTARY trailer a 40 minute documentary exploring the community response to chemical testing in St.Ives Bay is going to premiere in December.

This 40 minute documentary is about what happened when a Cornish community was confronted with the sudden reality of a chemical experiment happening in St.Ives Bay. They were told it was going to heal the ocean and combat global heating. So, did demanding a halt to the experiment mean that local people were standing in the way of genuine progress on the climate crisis? After all, Elon Musk was backing the experiment and there’d already been a secret test waved through by the Environment Agency. Was the community scientifically illiterate and insular or is there more to this story?
If you live locally, you probably know some of the people in this film. You might spot yourself if you’ve been to any of the protests. The characters explaining this unprecedented situation all live in the towns surrounding St.Ives Bay. Through them we see that ordinary people can have an extraordinary impact and that local voices can reverberate globally.
This is the world premiere of a totally local and independently made film. Everyone is welcome and there is no restriction on age. It’s not often we get to launch a documentary in our local cinema – some of us might even attempt to wear something smart. You can too if you fancy it.
