Rip Curl has dropped Search Series, its most technical range yet, built for time in the water and the long trips it takes to find waves worth the effort.

It went live worldwide on 1 September. The range mixes waterproof, windproof gear with everyday pieces that don't look out of place once you're off the sand. Rip Curl talks about three pillars behind it. Surfing is the obvious one, with performance pieces made for the water. The rest leans into travel and the elements, so you get boardshorts and luggage for the trip alongside gear that holds up when conditions turn nasty.

A lot of the technical side comes from the fabrics. Rip Curl worked with specialist mills, and CORDURA, Polartec and Pertex all feature across the collection.

The athletes gave it a proper going-over before launch. 2025 World Champion Molly Picklum and Hawaiian surfer Mason Ho tested pieces from tropical heat through to freezing water, feeding notes back through the whole development process.

The name comes from The Search, the idea that's driven Rip Curl since it started in Torquay, Australia, in 1969. It began as a hunt for waves and turned into something looser over the years, a reason to travel and see what's out there.

"For more than 50 years, The Search has taken us into unfamiliar territory and pushed our products into some demanding environments," said Casey Egan, Rip Curl's Head of Men's Design. The gear that came out of that, he said, ended up technical but casual enough to wear every day.
