Open Longboard Podium.

Presented by Surfing England, we are proud to present our 2026 SUP and Longboard National Champions, crowned after an action-packed day of competition at the 2026 Dryrobe SUP and Longboard National Championships, supported by Caravan and Motorhome Club, at Watergate Bay.

Competitors arrived to a chunky, pushing tide with the odd rogue big set, setting the tone for a day of challenging but brilliant conditions. It made for some of the most exciting surfing of the year to watch, testing every athlete's ability to find the right waves at the right time. The standard of surfing throughout the event was exceptional, with athletes across all divisions showcasing the depth of talent within the English SUP and longboard surfing community. After a day of intense heats and standout performances, our champions were crowned.

Several athletes delivered standout performances throughout the day. Reggie Roynon claimed a superb double title taking both the Men's Open and U18 Boys Longboard wins - timing that could not have been better, with Roynon set to head off with the Team England Junior squad to compete at Bundoran later this month.

U18 Longboard Podium.

He'll be joined on that trip by the newly crowned U18 Girls Champion Sylvie Puddiphatt, who surfed excellently throughout the day to add the national title to her season.

In the Women's Open Longboard division, the final was one of the closest of the day, with Beth Leighfield, Mali Harbour and Lola Bleakley all pushing each other hard for the top spot. It was Leighfield who came out on top, taking the title ahead of her trip to represent Team England at the ISA World Longboard Championship in El Salvador later this year — a fitting send-off for the reigning champion.

Defending champion Marcio Franca Dias was the first SUP competitor in the water this morning, heading out well before the competition got underway to test the tricky surf conditions. That early start paid off, as he progressed through the heats to reach the final and ultimately take the win. With his young children cheering him on throughout the contest, Franca Dias spoke afterwards about how much it meant to surf alongside his friends and the wider community, and how grateful he was to see SUP return to the Surfing England calendar for the 2026 season.

It was also brilliant to see Ashley Braunton back on the podium in the Men's Open Longboard, reaching the final in the chunky conditions after a back injury earlier this year had left his ability to compete in serious doubt.

Beyond the results, the event was a brilliant showcase of England's surfing community. It was fantastic to see a mother and daughter, Rebecca and Alexi Stott, compete together for the first time in the SUP Open division, alongside a husband and wife, Matthew and Emily Earp, both taking to the water in the same discipline - a reminder of just how much SUP and longboarding brings families and communities together.

We are incredibly proud of every athlete who competed. Reaching the podium at a national championship is no small achievement, and the level of performance across every division was outstanding.

A huge thank you to our headline event sponsors, Dryrobe and Caravan and Motorhome Club and Watergate Bay our hosts for the competition. A massive thanks also to Kukuna Eyewear for providing some epic prizes.

Thanks also to our partners INEOS and Surfline, and to those who helped our event run so smoothly: Era Adventures, The Hangout Newquay, The Zen Den Watergate Bay, Under the Canopy Cornwall and Watergate Field of Dreams.
