Alice Lemoigne (FRA) and Louis Marchiset (FRA) won the World Surf League (WSL) Longboard Qualifying Series (LQS) 1,000, the Boardmasters Longboard Pro Presented by YETI. After a lay day yesterday, a small pulse in the swell arrived just in time to complete the Semifinals and Finals at Fistral Beach. It was a challenging week at the first stop of the 2026/2027 European LQS season, but an exciting finish saw Marchiset and Lemoigne take an early lead on the rankings.

Alice Lemoigne Wins Historic Seventh Boardmasters Title
Reunion Island’s two-time World Longboard Champion, Alice Lemoigne (FRA, above), added an historic seventh Boardmasters title to her name today, winning an exciting Final against Canelle Lebreton (FRA), Thilde Rasmussen (DEN) and Emily Currie (GBR). The 29-year-old Lemoigne also secured another WSL European Longboard title to add to her list of accolades.
“I’m super happy, it’s always a good time here in Newquay,” said Lemoigne. “I love this place, it’s always fun to come here. I wasn’t even sure if I would be able to compete this year, because of my business back home, but I love to compete here so much that I decided I have to be here. Even when I saw the forecast was going to be hard, I really enjoy it here so I’m happy to get the win.”
Lemoigne opened her campaign in the Final with a 7.33 (out of a possible 10) for a few long hang fives with her graceful style, taking an early lead. After a few small rides, there was another pulse in the swell in the final few minutes which saw all surfers scoring rides. Lemoigne earned a 7.17 to secure the win with a 14.50 (out of a possible 20) total, while Lebreton improved her score to finish runner-up.
The unseeded Rasmussen had an incredible run at Fistral Beach, and she scored the only excellent ride in the Final, but unfortunately a priority interference saw her finish with a third place, while Cornwall’s local star Currie (above) finished fourth.
Louis Marchiset Wins First-Ever Longboard Qualifying Series Title
An entertaining men’s Final unfolded on Fistral Beach, with Edouard Delpero (FRA) challenging for his seventh Boardmasters title against António Dantas (POR), Louis Marchiset (FRA) and Max Jamet (FRA). But this year, it wasn’t to be, with the Basque surfer Marchiset surfing a smart heat to come out on top and win his first-ever LQS and Boardmasters title.
“I can’t believe it,” said Marchiset. “I thought the other guys were going to get me in the end, but in the last seconds I had priority and there was nothing behind me, so I could go for it. I’m super proud of myself. It’s been a lot of work and money to come here. I just compete for the pleasure of competing, and I’m super happy I got some great waves today.”
Marchiset started the Final with a decent ride to get the first score on the board, but António Dantas (POR, above) quickly nabbed the lead with a beautiful left-hander for some stylish nose rides. Marchiset started to build his score, but with just five minutes left on the clock, one of the best sets of the day arrived and Marchiset found a long right-hander for a combination of strong cutbacks and stylish hang time to score an excellent 8.07. All the surfers improved their scores by the time the buzzer went, with everyone waiting anxiously on the shoreline for the final results. In the end, Marchiset got the win with Dantas in second, Jamet in third and Delpero in fourth.
Marchiset and Lemoigne take the lead on the European Longboard rankings for the new season, with a long break in regional competitions for the rest of the year, while the likes of Lemoigne, Delpero, Dantas, Ginger Caimi (ITA) and Ben Skinner (GBR) shifting their focus to the next World Longboard Tour stop at Bells Beach in Australia.
The YETI Pro QS 4,000 and Boardmasters Longboard Pro 1,000 presented by YETI will take place from August 5-9, 2026 at Fistral Beach, Newquay.
