Surfing England release statement on postponed National Surfing Championships.
The 2025 Caravan and Motorhome Club English National Surfing Championships at Fistral Beach have been officially postponed due to dangerous contest conditions. Originally scheduled for 3rd – 5th October, the event will now take place on the backup dates of Saturday 25th – Monday 27th October, in the hope of securing better surf.
After a thorough evaluation of the forecast, including the tracking of ex-storm Humberto, it has been confirmed that the UK is set to be hit by 50mph+ gusting Westerly winds throughout the weekend. These extreme conditions mean the surf will not be safe or consistent enough to ensure a fair and high-quality contest.
Please know this decision was not made lightly, but postponing gives us the best chance to hold the championship in conditions worthy of its national status. We’re confident the new dates will deliver more favourable waves and create the perfect backdrop for an action-packed weekend of top-level surfing at Fistral Beach, Newquay.

New dates for English National Surfing Championships below.
We invite you to join us at the most prestigious event in English Surfing, the 2025 Caravan and Motorhome Club English National Surfing Championships. The contest will take place on Wednesday 29th – Friday 31st October, at Fistral Beach, Newquay, Cornwall.
The event will feature England’s top shortboarders, in the divisions of Open, U18s and U16s. An exciting opportunity to see our established talent, but also the best emerging talent the country has to offer.
These new dates provide a rescheduled opportunity for contestable conditions, and an exciting showcase of English surfing. We will follow up in the days prior to the contest with an update to us being ON. It’s about time we got lucky and graced with some epic Autumn swell.
