The countdown is on for the World Surf League (WSL) Abu Dhabi Longboard Classic presented by Modon, taking place from 27th – 29th September at Surf Abu Dhabi.

This sold-out event marks the UAE’s first professional surfing competition, with tickets selling out in a few hours, highlighting the local excitement surrounding this historic event.

The Abu Dhabi Longboard Classic presented by Modon will feature 24 of the top male and 24 of the top female surfers, representing 11 countries, including the United States, Hawaii and American Samoa, the UK, Uruguay, South Africa, Portugal, the Philippines, Peru, Japan, France, Brazil, and Australia. Competitors will showcase their skills on the waves to gain crucial points for the WSL’s longboard season, with the Abu Dhabi Longboard Classic playing a critical role in determining the qualifiers for the Surf City El Salvador Longboard Championships.

Among the competitors in the men’s division are world number one Taylor Jensen (USA), previous winner of the Bioglan Bells Beach Longboard Classic in July and the Huntington Beach Longboard Classic in August; world number two Pogelio Jr Esquivel (Philippines), winner of the Baler International Pro LQS and La Union International Pro; and world number three Ben Skinner (UK). In the women’s division, multiple World Champion Honolua Blomfield (HAW); world number two Rachael Tilly (USA), winner of the Huntington Beach Longboard Classic; and Natsumi Taoka (Japan), winner of the Baler International Pro LQS, are set to compete and add the Abu Dhabi Longboard Classic presented by Modon to their impressive resumes.
