The ‘Smooth Movers’ will be an invitational exhibit of the finest traditional longboarding at Godrevy Beach, Cornwall, U.K. from the 15th-17th September.

We’ll begin the affair at 1900 at the Rockpool bar with a welcome speech from Michael Lay, gentleman, scholar and fine surfer to set the tone for the weekend. Welcome competitors, welcome friends, welcome all. After which we’ll be showing Nathan Oldfield’s visual poem ‘Church of the Open Sky’. This will of course be accompanied by chilled beer, if we’ve learnt anything from the WSL, chilled beer for all is a prerequisite of any surfing event, particularly for the press. Moving Smoothly on into some live music from Gwithians favourite son, Tyler Crewe’s we’ll send it, but not all the way, a pre-midnight finish will be an essential for all with an 8am start planned in the morning.

Saturday, the focal point of the weekend, we’ll watch the surfing from the cliff tops at Godrevy, facilitated by the National Trust, this is a unique and frankly epic location to watch europe’s best traditional longboarders move. As well as the longboarding we’ll be showcasing a ‘Battered Fish’ heat. Eight of the best, local, alternative craft riders will take to the curl on twin fins and draw lines for Godrevy. In addition, one and all are invited to ‘Send It for Summer!’ in our charity expression session 5 pounds, no thrusters, you do the math.

After the surfing, around 1700 we’ll retreat to the Rockpool cafe/bar, it’s probably time for a beer, an exhibition of art and local photography will greet us, St Ives legend Joe Greenaway will be the focal point of the exhibit have a browse drink another beer maybe? Slide 65 Surfboards’ Rob Wright will be exhibiting a few boards and answering questions on the crafts of the weekend. This will see us into the prize giving and a quick cut of the days happenings on the big screen. Flow into some food, paella served on the deck, accompanied by more beer to see the sun set.

As the sun dips, the mood rises; Algorhythm will host the official Smooth Movers after party, after a frankly mind blowing first event the boys are back showcasing some of the finest house/techno in the county. House music fan or not this will be the event of the summer, taking to the floor at 10pm you’ll need a ticket for the final part of the day, get one here;
