Sometimes in the fight to save the oceans it feels like it is environmentalists, oceanographers and surfers against the world. But check this, arguably the biggest football team in the world just wore full kit made from recycling plastic bottles pulled from the Indian Ocean.
Kit sponsor Adidas have teamed up with the Parley for the Oceans campaign to deliver the one-off strip.Each shirt is made from 28 plastic bottles and 308 bottles have been taken out of the sea to make the kit for the Galacticos’.
Not many bottles it is true, but the ramifications could be huge. The Galacticos sold 2.8 million shirts in 2015-16. Imagine if they were all recycled bottles….In 2015 Adidas turned over $18.5 billion from sportswear…
