GOAT VS ULUWATU

GOAT VS ULUWATU

If you like your waves with extra chunk, this recent session session would have hit the spot.

It was a shifty, windswept lineup with plenty of closeouts over shallow reef, but the payoff was the odd one that funnelled down the reef before an unforgiving end section.

Kelly Slater made an appearance and kept busy, taking off on a bunch – but even he wasn’t immune to the erratic nature of the waves. Nevertheless he still managed to thread a few nice tubes and a couple of big sweeping turns on the bigger, opened faced ones, show off.

As if watching Kelly Slater thread solid Padang Padang isn’t enough pleasure for the eyes, he ups the ante with some tandem tube time with local legend Rizal Tandjung.

But they weren’t the only ones doubling up where even accomplished surfers come unstuck in solo mode. Betet Merta and Eli Hanneman got in on the act as well. It really is another level and shows just how comfortable these guys are in the tube.

Christina Hammock Koch has a rad job, she’s a NASA Astronaut currently on board the International Space Station. On top of that she has a sideline in taking the ultimate surf line up shots aboard ISS itself.

An international crew of six people live and work while traveling at a speed of five miles per second, orbiting Earth about every 90 minutes. In 24 hours, the space station makes 16 orbits of Earth, traveling through 16 sunrises and sunsets.

She recently caught up with Kelly Slater to talk her love of surfing and other outdoor activities during an in-flight call Jan 10. Koch, who recently broke the record for the longest single spaceflight by a woman, is in the final month of a planned 328-day mission, the second longest by an American astronaut. Koch is scheduled to return to Earth Feb 6th on a Russian Soyuz spacecraft for a parachute-assisted landing on the steppe of Kazakhstan.
