Hi Rob,
I'm not sure if you remember the crazy Dutch girl that was at the Gul coaching weekends last year and who also went to Fuerteventura with the SurfGirl trip in March, but here's an email from her. I meant to come to the coaching weekends this year, but I had already booked a two-week surfing holiday in Portugal for the first two weeks of September (last year the coaching weekends were at the end of September and early October) and right now I'm actually emailing you from sunny California where I arrived last Monday to do a six-month internship, so no Fistral for me next week. On the other hand, I'm living in Venice, about 50 metres away from the beach so life isn't too bad either, although I do miss my surfgirl mates from the UK (Jilly and Lucy). But I'll be back, the coaching weekends last year just gave me so much more confidence and I progressed quite a lot (and got even more hooked to surfing).
Anyway, I hope the upcoming weekend is as cool as the surfgirl weekends I experienced, but as long as there are waves I'm sure everyone will have a great time.
Regards,
Marieke
PS After getting a bike, but before sorting out a place to live I bought the sweet white 6'10" you see in the attached picture. I'm stoked, I can't help it.

Hey Guys!!
I just thought I'd say that I had a great time at the Surfgirl/Gul weekend (1st and 2nd Sept.) My surfing improved loads and the coaches were brilliant and helped me so much. I so much fun that weekend and my dad even says he will take me surfing to a place closer to us!! ... (It took us 4 hours to get down to Newquay!!)
Thanks for the great weekend and could you please keep me informed about other weekends in the future because I had such a great time I'd love to do it all again!

Hi Rob,
Helen, Ivanna and myself would just like to say thanks for the great weekend we just enjoyed down in Newquay (10/11 Sept).
We all found the tuition really beneficial, and are totally looking forward to getting back in the water to get practising and polishing our new skills, as soon as the gales die down there'll be no stopping us.
Thanks again to you and all the guys who gave us pointers and a refreshed enthusiasm!
Cheers and all the best!
Hiya Rob
Just wanted to say thanks loads for this weekend I had an awesome time.
Even though I ache all over today and have a rather impressive array of bruises all over my legs and hip, it was well worth it! Just wish I could've stayed longer. I was just about getting the hang of it and even managed to stand up for about two seconds yesterday! Not quite surf chick standard yet, so I will definitely be coming back to give it another shot.

Dear Mr Barber
How are you? I ache all over - could barely pull myself out of bed, both Julia and I missed our trains this morning because we couldn't do the usual fight through the ticket barriers
Anyway, I just wanted to say thankyou for a great weekend. We had sooooooo much fun.

Hiya Rob it’s Jo, from the first weeks surf trip.
Hope u got home safe and sound. Just wanted to say THANK YOU for such a great trip, i had a fabulous time and really enjoyed meeting u all.
Went down to Swansea this weekend, but it was flat - gutted to be home! Please keep me informed of any other surf trips your planning as I am always gagging to get away from London as frequently as possible!
Take care :-)
Dear, Surfgirl crew
I just wanted to thank you again for an awesome holiday, your expert advice and training gave me some of the confidence back that I had lost due to a bad experience. Every day you took us to beautiful spots on the island and a week was definately not enough. Your knowledge of the sea and how it all works was a big bonus, it has helped me imensely especially as I just used to throw myself in the water with no knowledge at all. The bubble on the North Coast... well no words can express how I felt when I saw it, I was stoked! Maybe one day when I've practiced lots & lots & lots you can take me there for a real surf, meanwhile I will be practicing my ‘pop ups!’ and swimming in front crawl stylie to help me get there and would love to come back later in the year with the same crew of girls for another go at maybe the green waves.
Thank you all for your hard work it was much appreciated and never forgotten, the word will be spread. Hope you’re having a few days off to chill now ready for the next batch of nutters!!
Take care for now you lot,
Love
