To celebrate the launch of thesurfdirectory.co.uk and the relocation of Rob Barber’s Bodyboarding School to the Carnmarth Hotel, we’re offering a two night bodyboard coaching weekend for two people in Newquay.

The winner of the weekend will receive bed and breakfast accommodation at the stunning Carnmarth Hotel* (carnmarth.com) overlooking Fistral Beach. The weekend will take place onsite at the newly located bodyboarding school (RobBarber.com) with qualified, insured instructors.

Shark diving can go horribly wrong! Although this is not quite the jaws disaster you may anticipate. A freak wave overturns a South African cage dive expedition in shark infested waters and sadly 3 tourists lost their lives. See it here.

Sea level rise. If you haven't already heard the sceientists seem to have "miscalculated" the level in which the sea is set to rise in years to come! Some reefs may be too deep to surf, however some new spots may be created! More info here.

Shark attack. By now you will all of heard of the tragic death of a 16 year old Australian bodyboarder who was the victim of a shark attack whilst surfing with friend off Australia's east coast. Fred Compagon's nose board The Nose Board DK Revolution

For those of you who were intrigued by Fred Compagon's nose board last issue, here's a chance to see the revolutionary design in action. The increased rocker on the nose and the increased length give the board more stability, but for the purists is it still what would traditionally be called a bodyboard? Make your own call. One thing’s for sure, French Fred is shredding!
