February and March can be tricky months in Europe with lots of rain, strong winds and cold fronts. Instead of coming back home to Portugal after his Hawaiian season, Miguel decided to fly to Tahiti for the first time and just wait for a swell.

“Black Sand” was filmed during his trip on the islands and features not only some of Blanco’s sessions in Hawaii and Tahiti but also the contrast of paradise and reality on the tropics.

Miguel Blanco is one of Portugal’s most respected surfers right now, a rising star both on a progressive surfing approach and also chasing slabs and big waves. Already with six Hawaiian seasons under his belt and trips all over the world (Australia, South Africa, New Zealand, Caribbean, Indo, Maldives, etc), Miguel is making a name for himself and represents the future of his generation.
