In choppy 4ft onshore conditions Ben Skinner opened up the heat by scoring the highest wave score of the heat just as the starting horn had barely sounded. While high scores came from Adam Griffiths (2nd ) and Nick Dowrick( 3rd), it was not enough to overtake Ben Skinner who won the heat and thereby took the 2012 championship, followed by Adam Griffiths taking 2nd place in the series.
